Why this video is important:

My previous team worked on the idea that users "create an account" and BAM. That's it. That's onboarding.

And that's not an anomaly.

MANY teams have a misguided understanding of what onboarding actually means. And if we treated onboarding simply as "create an account and fill in your profile information," we would not be helping our users understand and learn the value of our product throughout their user journey.

I used this video as a "Lunch and Learn" session with my team to help them rethink what onboarding meant, and it was a great discussion starter, as well as a great way to brainstorm differently to help our users, which led to tactical and strategic shifts to our roadmap.
