Section 1 Lesson 1: Intro to Quantitative and Statistical Analysis
For you stats nerds,
this is a basic stats 101 crash course, without going into much theory. It's stats for qualitative people.
So if you're wondering why there aren't topics on Markov chain Monte Carlo simulations, exploratory factor analysis and all of its rotations, Bayesian analyses, loglinear modeling, or other advanced stats, that's because:
- it's far beyond my skillset (or rather, in the deep trenches of memory stores from psych class) and
- anyone who already knows this stuff can be in the pseudo data science / quant UXR realm
If you're already familiar with advanced statistics and modeling, you can skip this section.
Required skills for this module
This is not a class on learning to use Excel or Google Sheets. I will not teach you how to use basic Excel/Sheets.
I encourage you to first learn the basics of Excel/Sheets like:
- conditional formatting,
- data validation,
- formatting rows and columns,
- VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP / SWITCH
- referencing cells (e.g. $ and %),
- pivot tables, and
- basic formulas like SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTIF
This module assumes you already know these basics navigating.
