The Closest Thing to a “Cheat Code” For Landing Your Dream UX Career

  • Are you looking to land your next UXR role?

  • Not getting calls back?

  • Feeling like what you have isn’t enough?

  • Stuck on really technical interview questions?

  • Confused about how to stand out in today’s competitive job market?

  • Or generally bamboozled by how to navigate the job search? 🫠

SAME.

I've been there. Hundreds of times in fact!

And after a decade, I can help you demystify the process and feel confident navigating the UX research job market.

I didn’t just create this course out of nowhere to sell you a course.

No.

I PIONEERED some of my own tips BECAUSE I WANTED TO LAND THOSE JOBS!

And after years of testing and testing over hundreds of job interviews, I have come up with a system that have helped hundreds of other UX researchers land jobs (many of whom got offers from coveted FAANG positions and other top companies)

• I’ve seen the “top secret” career matrix and behind-the-scenes hiring rubric that top companies use (so I know exactly what hiring managers are looking for)

• I’ve even worked at the world’s largest freelancing platform (Upwork), where I got to speak with hundreds of hiring managers (so it was practically my full-time job to learn HOW hiring managers hire)

And I’ve distilled ALL the most effective strategies I’ve learned into a proven model designed to maximize your chances at landing a UX research job.

Using the Same Strategies You’ll Learn in This Course…

My Students Have Landed Jobs At:

It's Time to Break The Rules

The interview process was invented 100+ years ago and it wasn't made with the candidate's favor in mind.

The traditional approach relies on playing a numbers game, applying for hundreds of jobs and hoping something eventually sticks.

But what if you could take control of your job search?

What if you could maximize your chances at every step of the process?

And what if you could walk into every interview with complete confidence?

I’ve helped hundreds of people do exactly that – by breaking all the typical rules.

How does it work? Take a look:

You'll learn how to:

✅ Leave your hiring managers SPEECHLESS by reading their minds and preemptively answering the right questions…BEFORE they even need to ask!

✅ FOCUS your efforts depending on where you’re at in the interview process

a. Not getting calls back? Resume and network

b. Not passing the screening round? Work on your story

c. Not passing the technical rounds? Stories, study up, and work on your portfolio

✅ BREAK THE RULES and use the cover letter creatively to WOW the entire team… I’ll show you how one candidate stood out to our entire hiring team with their cover letter…which was not your typical cover letter

✅ CREATE OPPORTUNITIES with the Briefcase Technique and find your own clients to work with - strengthening your portfolio along the way

✅ CLEARLY tell your case study story and identify meaningful impact, even if you think there was none

✅ ACE the toughest technical and whiteboard challenges with my framework which has helped 100+ of my mentees pass their technical rounds with companies like Google and Meta

✅ GUARANTEE a callback for take-home assignment with a technique that I PIONEERED (a VP literally accused me of cheating because they thought it was too good…and subsequently they had to change their entire interview process BECAUSE OF ME HAHA)

And this course isn’t just about acing the interview process…

I also know the career search can include:

• Networking

Salary negotiation

Familiarizing yourself with the lingo

Finding client projects to build your experience

Crushing it in your first 30, 60, 90 days

• …And how to handle the dreaded imposter syndrome, especially when you’re faced with rejections

But also…I have stories and material to help you mentally, too! Such as:

How to leave a job when you received a better offer

Whether you should leave a tenure job for a contract role

How to deal with unconscious biases, like ageism

Keep my course to use for your first job, your second, third, and the job after that. It is your handbook throughout your career, not just one job!

And while most “career” courses focus on ONE part of the job search (resumes only, portfolio only etc…)

This course guides you through the ENTIRE journey – from searching, to interviewing, to negotiating.

It’s literally everything you need from start to finish.

This comprehensive approach is how 80% of my past students have been able to land jobs at top companies after learning and applying these strategies.

How This Course Came To Be…

In 2014, I found myself at a crossroads in my career. I had just graduated with a degree in Biology from UC Berkeley, but I knew deep down that the traditional path of medical school wasn't for me. I was lost, unsure of what to do next, but I knew I wanted a career that combined my love for science, psychology, and problem-solving.

That's when I stumbled upon UX Research. It was like a lightbulb moment – here was a field that perfectly blended my interests and skills. I was excited, energized, and ready to dive in.

But there was one big problem…

I had no real-world UX research experience.

I spent six long months applying for UX Research jobs. Day after day, I'd send out applications, tailoring my resume and cover letter for each position. I was doing everything the "experts" told me to do.

And you know what happened?

Rejection after rejection after rejection.

It was soul-crushing. I started to doubt myself, wondering if I had made a huge mistake in pursuing this new career path. Maybe I should just give up and going back to my university job.

But I couldn't shake the feeling that UX Research was where I belonged. So, I decided to try something different.

I Realized I Needed to Stand Out From the Crowd

It occurred to me that I was getting rejected because I had nothing to show for my skills. No portfolio, no case studies, no real-world experience, no Masters or PhD. How could I expect companies to take a chance on me when I couldn't prove what I could do?

That's when I had a crazy idea…

What if I Created My Own UX Research Projects?

I decided to take matters into my own hands. Armed with my Macbook and a makeshift cardboard sign, I headed to my local Starbucks… where I offered to buy people a coffee in exchange for participating in a quick usability study.

To my surprise, many people said yes. I conducted impromptu usability tests on popular websites and apps, meticulously documenting my process, findings, and recommendations… and I published them on my blog.

It wasn't glamorous. It was an unpaid, self-directed apprenticeship.

But after months of struggling to get noticed, I finally had something to
show for my work.

And That's When Everything Changed

With these self-directed studies under my belt, I revamped my portfolio and resume. Now, instead of just talking about my passion for UX Research, I could show tangible examples of my work.

The results were immediate and dramatic.

Suddenly, I was getting callbacks. Interviews started rolling in. And before I knew it, I landed an incredible opportunity – a UX Research position at Volkswagen, working on their cutting-edge self-driving car technology.

That's when I decided to start helping others. At first, it was just a few friends, meeting at the library on weekends. I'd give them homework, thought exercises, and mock interviews.

I started creating YouTube videos, sharing tips and insights about the field. The response was overwhelming – my inbox was flooded with messages from people who found my content helpful.

But I knew I could do more.

I wanted to create a comprehensive system that could help ANYONE, regardless of their background, break into UX Research.

So I Started Experimenting…

  • I worked with hundreds of aspiring UX researchers, testing different strategies, refining my approach, and learning from every success and failure along the way…

  • I interviewed hundreds of hiring managers to learn the exact criteria they were looking for

  • I developed frameworks for crafting attractive resumes, portfolios, and cover letters – even for those with no professional experience…

  • I created a step-by-step process for networking that opened doors to hidden job opportunities…

  • I refined my interview preparation techniques, helping candidates ace even the toughest technical rounds…

…And The Results Were Astounding

My students started landing jobs at top tech companies like Google, Apple, Meta, and Amazon.

And over 80% of my live Masterclass students secured positions at their dream companies.

Today, I've helped hundreds of people break into the field and master the craft of UX research…

Doing meaningful work they're passionate about, with a thriving career that they love.

So if you're looking to land your first (or next) UX research role…

Then you're in the right place, and I invite you to join us :)

Here’s Even More of What You’ll Learn In The Course…

✅ How to use the “Briefcase Technique” to immediately position yourself as the top choice for hiring managers – by bringing custom-tailored solutions to your interview and SHOWING the value you can provide (instead of just telling). This alone will make a huge impression and set you apart – even from more qualified and experienced UX researchers…

✅ The RIGHT way to ask questions in UX research interviews – learn why having "no questions" is a major red flag for hiring managers... and discover the types of questions that showcase your strategic thinking and make you unforgettable to interviewers…

✅ The back-of-the-napkin diagnosis for job applications – this will help you understand what the main “bottleneck” is that’s holding you back from landing a job by analyzing and optimizing each stage of the job search… so you can get more interviews and increase your chances of reaching the final round and receiving the job offer…

✅ How to make your UX research resume stand out – by focusing on impact and relevancy, removing unnecessary academic details, and following my 3-step formula for making every bullet count…

✅ Why a cover letter can make or break your application – and why you should stop listening to people who tell you “cover letters don’t matter.” You’ll learn the DO’s and DON’Ts of cover letters, and how to write a compelling cover letter that hiring managers actually pay attention to…

✅ The proven “whiteboard challenge” framework that over 100 of my past students have used to pass the technical rounds at companies like Google and Meta, so you can confidently demonstrate your skills under pressure (and know exactly how to respond to any hypothetical questions they throw at you)...

✅ How to use the STAR method to present your portfolio with confidence – by structuring each case study into a compelling story that demonstrates the impact of your work. You’ll also learn how to talk about impact when you don’t have specific numbers to show, and how to showcase your research process in a way that positions you as a true expert regardless of your experience…

✅ How to negotiate your first UX research job offer - use my 5-step process to get the salary and benefits package you deserve, while avoiding common negotiation mistakes that can turn off hiring managers. You'll also get practical exercises to help you prepare, as well as sample responses for handling tough negotiation scenarios – so you can walk into any negotiation feeling confident that you know exactly what to say…
